First Private Hospital in Balik Pulau – Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang.
Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang marks a significant milestone as the first Selgate Specialist Hospital in the Northern Region. Serving as the flagship hospital for healthcare services in the Northern Region, it boasts 172 beds and offers a comprehensive range of 31 specialties.
Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang is a collaboration between MTT Properties & Development Sdn Bhd and Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd. This partnership combines MTT’s expertise in property development and Selgate’s healthcare experience to bring a premier healthcare facility to the region.
MTT Properties & Development Sdn Bhd major project is the Botanica.CT township, which began development in 2006 with a total of 300 acres development land. Located along Sungai Air Putih in Balik Pulau, southwest Penang Island, it is designed as a garden township. Planned over nine phases, it aims to be self-sufficient, featuring an international school, a clubhouse restaurant, a commercial hub, and more. The addition of Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang, a much-needed private healthcare facility, now completes the township, enhancing its appeal and functionality. This latest initiative forms part of MTT Group’s investment in Botanica.CT, Balik Pulau over the next three years that include gated residential landed homes, Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang, Eden at Botanica CT – a first integrated senior living resort with an adjacent assisted-living care residence, a world class education hub and commercial precinct.
The first private health care medical centre with 172 beds will cater to the city’s growing population and serve the growing demand for medical care through a comprehensive health and wellness lifestyle medicine. Leveraging Botanica.CT ecosystem as an integrated garden township which includes hospitality, education, commercial and residential components, Selgate Specialist Hospital Pulau Pinang’s strategic location amidst tropical greenery would boost the township’s status as a medical tourism hub.
For residents of Balik Pulau, the hospital provides a long-awaited solution to private healthcare accessibility. Rather than traveling to Bayan Lepas or George Town for private medical services, they now have the convenience of choosing between a government hospital or a private hospital close to home. This ensures not only greater accessibility but also enhanced healthcare options for the surrounding communities, including Pulau Betong, Teluk Kumbar, Bayan Lepas, Teluk Bahang, and beyond.
